Lloyd Nix
C. Lloyd Nix (born December 7, 1936 in Carbon Hill) is a dentist and former quarterback for Auburn University.
Nix played for Shug Jordan's Auburn Tigers from 1956 to 1958. He was the quarterback of the 1957 10-0 national championship team, and was team captain of the 1958 9-0-1 team which ranked 4th nationally. He also was a pitcher for the Tigers baseball 1958 national championship team, recording a 9-0 games pitched record that season. He was awarded the 1959 Cliff Hare Award as Auburn's outstanding senior athlete.
Nix was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. In 1995, he recieved the Walter Gilbert Award. In 2008, he recieved the Auburn University Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr Nix now resides in Decatur with his wife Sandy. The couple has two children, Denise and Natalie, and six granddaughters. He is the former president of the Morgan County Dental Association, former chairman of the Council on Ministries of Central United Methodist Church, and board member for the Alabama Institute Foundation for the Deaf and Blind. He currently serves as a director for First American Bank and Alabama National.
