Melinda Storey
Melinda Storey is a gifted specialist at Mountain Brook Elementary School and winner of a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science.
Storey has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Georgia Southwestern State University and a bachelor of arts in speech and drama and a master of arts in gifted education from the University of Alabama. She taught in Georgia and Tennessee before coming to Mountain Brook in 1991.
In 2002 Storey drew from her experiences in Perú and the Galápagos to develop a curriculum on native species and cultures. She has also studies Hawaiian volcanoes. She has served as assistant director for the Junior United Nations Assembly of Alabama and has made presentations to the National Association for Gifted Children and the Alabama Science Teachers Conference.
