Miner Cliett

Miner Cliett (born 1944 in Childersburg; died 1992) was a world-champion skeet shooter.

Cliett, the son of Henry Cliett of Childersburg, received his first air rifle as a 5-year-old and immediately showed a gift for marksmanship. An avid bird hunter, he began competing in skeet shooting tournaments as a young teenager and amassed 18 world titles, including a gold medal at the World Skeet Shoot Championship held in Oslo, Norway in 1961. Cliett won three consecutive junior world titles and claimed a world record of 634 successive competition shots without a miss. He beat out competitors at every level to win the National Champion of Champions event in Reno, Nevada as a 13-year old.

Cliett graduated from Childersburg High School
