Mountain Grass Unit is a bluegrass jam band made up of Drury Anderson on mandolin, Josiah Nelson on fiddle, Luke Black on guitar and banjo, and Sam Wilson on bass.

Black and Anderson met as kids while they were both taking lessons from Herb Trotman and Jason Bailey at Fretted Instruments. The played together and with Wilson in various bands while attending Mountain Brook Junior High School and Mountain Brook High School.

They performed around town in 2019, and opened for Sam Bush at Workplay. They gained a larger following by posting to "The Music Never Stopped" page on Facebook during the COVID pandemic.

The trio joined with Nelson in 2022 while visiting East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. Black and Anderson currently attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and Wilson attends the University of Alabama.
