R. B. & Annie Broyles residence
The R. B. & Annie Broyles residence is a 1½-stoy Victorian style wood-framed residence located at 5721 5th Court South in Crestwood North which was built in 1900 for furniture dealer R. B. Broyles and his wife Annie. Originally a farm, it was the first house built on the block of what was formerly called "Woodlawn Highlands". The address was originally the 5500 block of Grand Avenue (1899-1915), later the 5600 block of 4th Avenue South (1915-1929), and now the 5700 block of 5th Court South (1929-present). In 1910, several acres of the original property was sold to the Woodlawn Realty Co. as a part of the 4th addition to the neighborhood.
The house features a hipped roof with cross gables positioned above a denticulated cornice. Its exterior is clad in wood siding, transitioning to decorative shingles on the main front gable and board-and-batten siding on the porch gable. The front gable includes an attic window, while the porch gable is adorned with a pair of decorative louvered vent openings. The porch walls and piers, as well as the chimney and walls flanking the long exterior stairs, are finished in fieldstone.
