Railway Marathon
The Railway Marathon is a planned annual running event headlined by a 26.2-mile long marathon footrace following a 13.1-mile out-and-back course along the Five Mile Creek Greenway in Fultondale, Gardendale and Brookside. The start, mid-point, and finish are all at Fultondale's Black Creek Park. The course is billed as the fastest in Alabama.
The event was founded in 2024 by Jeremey Davis to take the place of the former Mercedes Marathon. The weekend event also features a half marathon, 50K, 5K and kids' fun run. The marathon event is certified by USA Track & Field to serve as a qualifier for major races such as the Boston Marathon.
CraneWorks signed on as presenting sponsor for the event. Part of the proceeds from the event were donated to the nonprofit Unless U.
