Robert George Burton Jr is the son of Hoar Holdings. He is the son of Bob Burton, chairman and CEO of Hoar Construction. Robert Jr was named president of Hoar Construction in 1996 and CEO in 2001.

Burton was inducted into the Alabama Business Hall of Fame in 2024.
