Roger James (born c. 1953 in Frederick, Maryland) is a violinist with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
James studied with Pierre Menard, Charles Castleman and Emmanuel Vardi and completed his bachelor of music at Northern Illinois University in 1975. He performed with the South Dakota Symphony, the Dakota Quartet, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before joining the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in 1985.
James is an instructor following the Suzuki method, and also performs as a fiddler with various traditional dance bands. He and his wife, Linda, were long-time members of the Association of Cajun Music Enthusiasts. Their daughter Sarah resides in California.
