Thomas Doster III
Thomas Edwin Doster III (born c. 1941 in Birmingham; died July 2, 2024 in Birmingham) was the founder of Doster Construction.
Doster was the son of Thomas and Grace Jordan Doster. He graduated from Shades Valley High School and studied industrial engineering at the University of Alabama while also playing for the baseball team. He served as a platoon leader for the 173rd Engineering Corps during the Vietnam War.
Doster was married to the former Leila Walton and had three children; Thomas IV, Walton and Julia.
Doster founded his construction company in 1969, growing it into a large company with projects in 33 states. He served as president of the Alabama Branch of the Associated General Contractors of America and as a member of the University of Alabama Industrial Engineering Advisory Board, and the University of Alabama President's Cabinet. He was inducted into the AGC Alabama Construction Hall of Fame.
Doster died in 2024. He was survived by his wife, children, and eight grandchildren.
