The Union Carbide Building was a 2- and 3-story commercial office building on a 4.9-acre parcel at 2900 Cahaba Road adjacent to Mountain Brook's Office Park. It is actually located on South Chester Drive, off of Cahaba Road and behind the Mountain Brook Plaza shopping center.
It was constructed in 1954 for the local offices of the Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation, and was soon followed by the remainder of the Office Park development to the south. The original design included vertical shading fins supported on projecting concrete overhangs at each floor.
The building was demolished in 2024 for construction of a 5-floor, 162-unit senior living facility.
