WBHK-FM
WBHK-FM, called 98.7 Kiss, broadcasting at FM 98.7) is an urban adult contemporary format radio station owned by Summit Media licensed to Warrior and broadcasting across the Birmingham area from a 39-kW Class 1 transmitter on Red Mountain. It shares studios with five other Summit stations in the Meadow Brook 2700 building at Meadow Brook Corporate Park. The general manager is John Walker and program director is Darryl Johnson.
The station, formerly WLBI-FM ("98 Lite"), made its debut as a Cox Media Group property on July 1, 1996, promising "Smooth R&B and Classic Soul". The call letters are said to stand for "B irming H am's K iss". Until 2002 it continued to broadcast from a studio trailer in Warrior via a tower off of Arkadelphia Road.
In 2005, WBHK began broadcasting in IBOC digital radio, using the HD Radio system from iBiquity. Summit Media acquired the station, along with 22 other properties, for $66.25 million in 2012.
