Wanda Cunliff
Wanda Faye Haight Cunliff was a principal harpist for the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the early 1960s.
Wanda Haight was a native of Laurel, Mississippi. She is a graduate of St Martin's Episcopal School in Matairie, Louisiana. She earned her bachelor of music with honors from Loyola University in New Orleans and taught for two years at Newcomb College (Tulane University) before accepting the position of harpist with the Birmingham Symphony. She also toured with the Virginia Symphony and attended the Salzedo Harp Colony in Camden, Maine.
Cunliff was also a registered nurse, having studied nursing at both Loyola and Tulane and earning a diploma from Carraway Methodist Medical Center. She rose to the position of assistant chair in the division of liberal arts at Jefferson State Community College.
