Wayne Spradley

Jerry Wayne Spradley Sr (born 1937 in Pell City) is a watercolor artist and former brick mason.

Spradley became interested in art while at Pell City High School and was a member of the Southern Watercolor Society. He served in the U.S. Navy and began working as a mason for the Connors Steel Company in 1961.

Spradley began working as an commission artist in 1968. His painting of a pair of mallards was chosen for the 1980 Alabama State Duck Stamp. His paintings are owned by two former presidents and several museums. Spradley was honored as "Pell City Citizen of the Year" in 1990.

Spradley and his wife, the former Patricia Rich, had two sons, Dwayne ("Scooter") and Jerry Jr ("Buddy"). The Pell City Library maintains a biographical file on Spradley.
