The Woodfin Commission is a 19-member advisory panel inaugurated by Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin in October 2024 to research, analyze and recommend policies for reducing homicides in the city.
The panel was modeled after the "Arrington Commission", created by then-Mayor Richard Arrington in the 1990s to address increasing crime rates. It was funded by an appropriation from the Birmingham Police Foundation and charged with preparing a report within 60 days.
