The site plan was developed by [[Goodwyn Mills Cawood]], a playground area is being included along with multiple trees to reforest the site. Most paving and landscape work was completed in late [[2023]]. Playground equipment should be installed in [[2024]]

The land is on the backside of the campus of Samford University adjacent to its emergency entrance near it Art Lofts building. It is leased to the City of Homewood for a one-time payment of $10. There were previously two homes owned by Samford situated on the site. Samford demolished these to allow for the park's creation.
