Birmingham Episcopal Area of the United Methodist Church was the geographical territory served by the bishop whose residence was in Birmingham. In 2024 it was replaced by a new area named the Alabama Panhandle Episcopal Area.

Some episcopal areas include more than of the church’s regional units (known as an annual conference), many only have one. The only annual conference of the United Methodist Church in the Birmingham Episcopal Area was the North Alabama Conference. So, effectively, the Birmingham Episcopal Area was equivalent to the North Alabama Annual Conference. Its offices were in the United Methodist Center on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College.

See North Alabama Conference for a listing of bishops who served the Birmingham Episcopal Area.
