The Southeatern Conference (SEC) is a 12 member NCAA conference established in 1932. It has been headquartered in Birmingham since 1948 and operates from the Roy F. Kramer Building at 2201 Richard Arrington Jr Boulevard North. The current commissioner is Greg Sankey.
In late 1945 the Southeastern Conference made the position of commissioner a full-time job with a $7,500 salary. The change led to businessman Mike Conner's resignation.
The SEC was the first conference to split into divisions and hold a post-season championship game in football. The conference created an SEC Network television channel in partnership with ESPN, debuting in 2014.
