Howard Garrett (born in Bessemer) is a former retail store designer.

Garrett served in the U.S. Army during World War II and began studying engineering at the University of Alabama. He transferred to the newly-created industrial design program at Alabama Polytechnic Institute and founded the schools Industrial Design Forum in 1949.

Garrett founded his own firm in 1960 and worked with clients across the country in retail and fixture design. He designed several store layouts for Parisian, also worked for the Hoover Public Library at its River Oaks Village location, and for other institutional clients. In 1981 he expanded into international work with his HGA Products business.

Garrett was a founding member of the Industrial Design Advisory Council. He also taught adult Sunday School classes and published a book, The Image of God.

He and his wife, Carol, have two daughters: Nan King and Jan Garrett.
