Baron (born May 25, 2011 at the Birmingham Zoo) is a male lion, one of a litter of five cubs born to Kwanzaa and Akili. The others are Asha, Kimba, Lily, and Vulcan.
A naming contest was held for the second of the two male cubs during the litter's Labor Day weekend premiere at the zoo. Baron was submitted by 7-year-old Joshua Bradley of Chelsea, who was announced as the winner on September 12, 2011.
In 2012 Baron and his brother, Vulcan, were relocated to the Montgomery Zoo. At the time he went on exhibit in October of that year, he weighed 256 pounds. In April 2014 both lions were transferred to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah.
