America's First Federal Credit Union is a non-profit community credit union based in Birmingham. It was founded at U. S. Steel's Ensley Works in 1936 as the Iron and Steel Worker's Credit Union. Since then it has grown to a full-service financial institution with more than 153,000 members, nearly $1.5 billion in assets and 19 branch locations.
The company's distinctive headquarters building at 1200 4th Avenue North was once well-known for its bright orange color. It has since been re-clad in warm gray. A four-story extension was added to the building in 2018.
It received a community charter from the National Credit Union Administration in 2005.
