Decatur Highway is an older name for the portion of what is now U.S. Highway 31 as it leads north from Birmingham through Fultondale, Gardendale, Morris, Kimberly, Warrior, and beyond toward Decatur in Morgan County. The section of the highway in the Fultondale city limits runs through the eastern side of the city and was the main north-south thoroughfare until I-65 was opened in the mid-1980's.
