The Shelby County Arts Council (formerly the Academy of Fine Arts of Shelby County, and initially the Columbiana Fine Arts Center) is a non-profit organization that promotes the arts in Shelby County and operates the Shelby County Arts Center. Bruce Andrews is the executive director. The organization is governed by an 24-member Board of Directors.
The group, which was first incorporated on September 15, 2004, sponsors art-related programs and events. In 2007 the council supported Kindermusik classes in Pelham and a visit from the mobile "Artrain" exhibit at Calera's Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. Other events that year included Missoula Children's Theater camps in Calera, Chelsea and Columbiana and a photography exhibit of works by Rachel Fowler.
The Arts Council dedicated the 20,000 square-foot Shelby County Arts Center at Old Mill Square in Columbiana in 2019.
