Steven Rudd is a neurologist at Brookwood Medical Center, a professor in the UAB School of Public Health, and the author of the mystery novel Midnight Red.
Rudd completed his internship at St Vincents Medical Center and was a resident at St Vincents and Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. His medical degree is from Harvard, and he also has a law degree from Georgetown University.
Rudd self-published his first novel, the forensic-psychologist mystery Midnight Red in 2005 and found himself with a cult hit that appeared on the New York Times best seller list. The 2006 follow-up keeps the same lead character, Kristin Van Zandt. He has completed a third book in the series which will be published in 2007. Rudd also won a screenplay award from Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival and has adapted Midnight Red into a screenplay for an independent film which is in pre-production.
