This is a list of lieutenant governors of the State of Alabama, 1868 to present.
The office was created during the Reconstruction era under the Alabama Constitution of 1867, but was abolished by the Alabama Constitution of 1875, then re-created under the Alabama Constitution of 1901.
Under the current constitution, the Lieutenant Governor and the Governor do not run together on the same ticket. The Lieutenant Governor can therefore be affiliated with a different political party than that of the Governor. The Lieutenant Governor is the President and Presiding Officer of the Alabama Senate and casts a deciding vote in the case of a tie in that house.
