- 2002: Birmingham Steeldogs 47 - Mobile Wizards 26 at the BJCC.
- 1991: "Photographs of Wales 1971-1978" by Rowland Scherman went on exhibit at Joe Bar as part of that year's Salute to the United Kingdom.
- 1963: "A Call for Unity", an open letter to Birmingham's African American citizens, was published in the Birmingham News
- Martin Luther King, Jr was arrested for "parading without a permit" during a peaceful demonstration in support of civil rights for African Americans. While imprisoned he responded to "A Call for Unity" with his Letter from Birmingham Jail.
- 1937: Postcard collector and author J. D. Weeks was born in North Birmingham.
- 1865: Wilson's Raiders occupied Montgomery.
