The primary goal of the festival is to foster the exchange of creative ideas. The inaugural Alabama Phoenix Festival featured a live performance of H. G. Wells' "War of the Worlds", a "Rock Band" video game contest, a LEGO expo, and a "Magic: The Gathering" tournament.
