Dr. Oswaldo Ponce is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports industries. He and his family currently reside in Birmingham while he completes a fellowship at the Alabama Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center at St Vincent's Hospital under Dr James Andrews. Their home is Barquisimeto, Venezuela.
Dr. Ponce, who holds degrees in orthopedic medicine from Venezuela and a sports medicine certificate from the University of Miami's Doctor's Hospital, plans to create a Latin American Sports Medicine Institute in Venezuela which is modeled after Alabama's.
Ponce is married to architect Elba Cadena and has two daughters, Jessica and Maria Fernanda.
