The 2009 Samford Bulldogs are playing their 2nd season of football in the Southern Conference, in NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly known as I-AA). Coach Pat Sullivan led the Bulldogs to a 6-5 2008 season, his 2nd as head coach.
Schedule and results (3-4)
- September 5: Lost to Central Florida 28-24 in Orlando, Florida. Samford led 24-21 going into the 4th quarter.
- September 12: Defeated Jacksonville State 27-0 at Seibert Stadium.
- September 19: Defeated Miles College 31-12 at Seibert Stadium.
- September 26: Lost to Appalachian State 20-7 in Boone, North Carolina.
- October 3: Defeated Western Carolina 16-3 at Seibert Stadium.
- October 10: Lost to UT-Chattanooga 14-7 at Seibert Stadium.
