Errata
- T. Harry Blake erroneously assumes in Birmingham Since 1885 (1972) that the Florence "took over" the Birmingham Hotel to found the New Florence Hotel. Marjorie Longenecker White mistakenly attributes the name to Mudd's daughter rather than his departed wife. (Downtown Birmingham: Architectural and Historical Walking Tour Guide, 1977). I consider Sulzby's more detailed account to be the authoritative reference. --Dystopos 21:49, 30 June 2007 (PDT)
More errata?
- The sentence "The hotel was also the site, during the 1891 Southern Baptist Convention, of the committee meeting at which the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board was founded." is, I believe, incorrect. See the plaque at O'Brien Opera House which states that it was founded there instead. --Wheresdib 14:25, 28 December 2007 (PST)
- Since the Opera House and the Florence Hotel were within a block of each other, I think it is conceivable that the constituents were staying in the hotel and had their meeting at the opera house. Any thoughts on changing the sentence structure, or removing it from here? I wonder what the source is for the blurb in the Florence article. --Wheresdib 12:45, 29 December 2007 (PST)
