America's First Federal Credit Union is a community credit union based in Birmingham with headquarters located at 1200 4th Avenue North. It was founded at U. S. Steel's Ensley Works in 1936 as the Iron and Steel Worker's Credit Union. Since then it has grown to a full-service financial institution with over $700 million in assets and 18 branch locations.
The company's distinctive headquarters building was once well-known for its bright orange color. It has since been re-clad in warm gray.
