10th Avenue South
Tenth Avenue South (originally Avenue J) is an east-west corridor in Birmingham's Southside, with its main section stretching from 4th Street South in Glen Iris, through the UAB Campus, to 22nd Street South at the corner of Brother Bryan Park. It picks up again a block east to run under the Elton B. Stephens Expressway and behind St Vincent's Medical Center, then continues two blocks to 30th Street South.
On the east side of Highland Park, 10th Avenue South (formerly Summit Avenue) continues through Forest Park until it bends into Linwood Road. An unconnected stretch picks up at 52nd Street South in Crestwood, and turns to intersect Crestwood Boulevard between 57th and 58th Streets. In East Lake fragments of 10th Avenue South can be found between 79th Street South and Glendale Drive, near the boundary of the Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve.
