Birmingham Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church was formed in 1896 by the Alabama Synod. It was preceded by the Alabama Presbytery. It included churches in the central, southern, and western parts of the Birmingham-area. Churches in the western section were part of the Springville Presbytery. In 1989 it was incorporated into the newly formed Grace Presbytery.

In 1906 the General Assembly of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church voted to reunite with the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America. Most Birmingham-area churches in the presbytery became part of that denomination's Presbytery of Birmingham.
