Bands of Color in Various Directions is a monumental flat-panel sculpture hanging on the north wall of the Birmingham Museum of Art in the museum's Charles W. Ireland Sculpture Garden. Designed by by artist Sol LeWitt, the 83 foot 7 inch-long construction of six aluminum panels and laser-cut vinyl sheets was completed in 2001. It and a companion sculpture, "Vertical #5" were commissioned as part of the celebration of the museum's 50th anniversary in the Oscar Wells Building. Funds for the purchase were contributed by the Art Fund, Inc., the Bluff Park Art Association and Mr & Mrs John Poyner.
