Warren Truss was born on May, 2, 1772 in Pitt County, North Carolina. He married Nancy King and had ten children. In 1821, he and his family would be the first settlers in the area that would become present-day Trussville on the banks of the Cahaba River. It was here that he established a small grist mill where the town that bears his name now stands.
