Zachary Barnes is the principal of Homewood High School and former principal of Hewitt-Trussville High School.
Barnes earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees from the University of Alabama.
Barnes later became a teacher for Tuscaloosa City Schools. He proceeded to work his way up within the system to assistant principal, then principal, and finally director of graduation success and dropout intervention.
In 2011, Barnes left his position as directory to became principal of Hewitt-Trussville High School after Mark Kirkemier left to become principal of Headland High School in Henry County. The following year he accepted the position of principal at Homewood High School.
