The 2022 TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl was the 16th Birmingham Bowl postseason college football game, the third with TicketSmarter as title sponsor, and the second to be played at Protective Stadium in downtown Birmingham.

The game was played at 5:45 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 and broadcast live on ESPN, with Tiffany Greene and Jay Walker in the booth and Jalyn Johnson reporting from the sidelines.

The 7-5 East Carolina Pirates of the American Athletic Conference defeated the 9-3 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers of the Sun Belt Conference by a score of 53-29. East Carolina averaged 6.8 yards per play and quarterback Holton Ahlers accounted for six touchdowns to lead the Pirates to a convincing victory, helped along by Coastal Carolina's three lost fumbles.

Despite mild sunny weather following a hard freeze the night before, the game was lightly attended, with only 15,901 reported in the stands of the 47,100-seat stadium.
