Darryl Love

Darryl Love (born c. 1953 in Mississippi) is a former research chemist at Southern Research and senior scientist at Evonik Birmingham Laboratories.

Love grew up in Indianola, Mississippi and graduated from Gentry High School. He earned his bachelor of science in chemistry at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana and came to Birmingham for additional study at UAB.

He began his career at Southern Research in 1976 and came to specialize in the development of controlled release of pharmaceuticals through microencapsulation. His group was spun off as Brookwood Pharmaceuticals in 2005, which is now a division of Evonik.

Love retired in June 2023.
