Herbert Spencer Salmon Sr (born September 22, 1887 in Indiana; died October 14, 1941 in Bessemer) was a mining engineer, partner in the firm of Salmon & Cowin, and secretary for the Jefferson County Commmission.

Salmon was the son of Marion Willard and Emma Helen Masters Salmon of Indiana.

Salmon married the former Mildred Holland and had three children; Herbert Jr, Marion and Eleanor.

Salmon was elected president of the Engineers Club in 1931.

Salmon died in 1941 and is buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
