List of homicides in 1976

This is a List of homicides in 1976. It includes homicide cases occurring throughout the Birmingham area during the calendar year. Note that not all homicides are ultimately ruled to be murder in courts of law.

Jefferson County

• December 21: customer A. L. Aldritch, 64, was shot and killed during a robbery at Garywood Clothing. No arrest.

Tuscaloosa County

• October 31: Emily Diane Kyzer, 29, was shot to death with two others. Her estranged husband, Dudley Wayne Kyzer, was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. That sentence was overturned and a second jury sentenced him to 10,000 years in prison for Emily's murder, plus two sentences of life in prison without parole for the other two deaths. He remains imprisoned, having been denied multiple requests for parole. (report)
• October 31: Eunice Barringer, 54, Emily's mother and house mother for the Delta Eta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta, was killed in the same incident.
• October 31: Richard Pyron, 22, the treasurer of the fraternity, was killed in the same incident.
