Spain Park High School is a public high school, the second built for the Hoover City Schools system. It is located on Jaguar Drive off Valleydale Road in part of the former Spain Park, a property formerly owned by the Spain family and donated to the City of Birmingham, then acquired in the 1990s by the city of Hoover. The school opened in the Fall of 2001. The school's enrollment is around 1,000.
The three-story brick-clad building and adjoining athletic facilities were designed by Crawford McWilliams Hatcher Architects and constructed for around $45 million.
Spain Park High School was named a "Blue Ribbon" school by the U.S. Department of Education in 2008. In 2012, science teacher Suzanne Culbreth was named "Alabama Teacher of the Year" by the Alabama State Board of Education.

Athletics
Spain Park's athletic teams, nicknamed the "Jaguars," compete in the AHSAA Class 6A, Region 6. Team colors are Carolina blue, black and white. The mascot is named "Jaggy".
The school's athletic director is Gena Morris. Chip Lindsey is the head football coach. Al Del Greco, former kicker for the NFL's Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans, is the boys' golf coach and the football team's kicking coach.
The Jaguars have won six state championships: two in girls' soccer (2004, 2009), two in boys' golf (2008, 2009), and one each in boys' tennis (2007) and girls' golf (2009). The football lost the Super Six 6A championship game to Prattville in 2007. The boys' basketball team advanced to the AHSAA Final Four the same year.
Spain Park's football team was shown on MTV's television program Two-A-Days, as an opponent of archrival Hoover High School. Hoover is undefeated in the nine meetings between the rivals.
Music
The Jaguar band is directed by Mike Aycock. Andrew Kruspe is the assistant band director, and directs the Spain Park Concert Band. On November 11, 2006, the Spain Park Marching Band participated in the New York City Nation's Parade, which celebrated Veterans Day.
Since the school's founding, Spain Park's show choir, known as The Park Singers, has been very successful in competitions across the South. Highlights include Grand Championships at the Auburn University Jazz and Show Choir Festival (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), the Opelika High School Southern Showcase (2004, 2005), the Homewood High School South Central Classic (2005, 2006), and the Enterprise High School Show Choir Invitational (2007). The Park Singers have also competed at Show Choir Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee, since 2006. The Park Singers are directed by Gia Graddy.
