The 2003 Rickwood Classic was the 8th in the annual series of "throwback" games played by the Birmingham Barons in vintage-style uniforms at Birmingham's historic Rickwood Field. The Barons won 5-1 against the Huntsville Stars on June 11, in a game that was called in the eighth inning due to a thunderstorm. Birmingham pitcher Tetsu Yofu dominated the Huntsville lineup all day in surrendering only a single run. The Barons offensive play of the game took place in the sixth inning when Jonathan Aceves hit a two run double to blow the game wide open.

The Barons honored their 1983 Southern League championship team by wearing replicas of those 1983 uniforms. Huntsville wore the uniforms honoring their 1985 inaugural season. The game was presented by State Farm Insurance. General admission tickets were $8.

The announced crowd for the Wednesday mid-day game was 5,355. Special guests included former Barons slugger Rondal Rollin.
