Birmingham Water Works Dam
From Bhamwiki
Birmingham Water Works Dam on the Cahaba River is located just south of the U. S. Highway 280 bridge over the river. Built in 1891, the low-head dam measures 15 feet high and backs up the waters of the Cahaba just enough to allow the city of Birmingham to withdraw a steady supply of water from this section. The dam supplies water to the adjacent Riverview Wastewater Treatment Plant.
