Carlock Honda
Carlock Honda is a 44,624 square-foot automobile dealership located on a 6.5-acre site at 1813 Ensley Avenue near 20th Street Ensley and I-20/59.
The dealership was established in 2008 when Serra Auto Group, which had purchased Neil Bonnett Honda in Hueytown in 2007, relocated it to Ensley, taking advantage of incentives offered by the City of Birmingham.
The new location opened for business in May 2008, but held its grand opening celebration on Thursday July 17 with Honda officials and Mayor Larry Langford in attendance. The dealership's original general manager was Dave Story. The dealership offered free cappuccino, wireless internet service, and a kid's play area for visitors.
Gerrick Wilkins succeeded Story as general manager in December 2008. He reported increasing the dealership's profitability by cutting an average of $500,000 per year in expenses while improving inventory management and digital marketing, allowing the business to increase its profits 11% year-over-year despite flat sales numbers.
Wilkins directed and facilitated the sale of Serra Honda to the Victory Automotive Group in 2015. It was operated as Freeway Honda. The business was acquired by Carlock Automotive Group of Nashville, Tennessee in 2022 and rebranded as Carlock Honda. The property remains held by Cappo Real Estate Holdings.
