College Hills is a neighborhood in the Smithfield community.
In 1957 a group of 500 white residents of College Hills petitioned the Birmingham City Commission and Birmingham Real Estate Board to ask for protections against Black residents moving into formerly all-white sections, which they claimed was depreciating their property. Mayor Jimmy Morgan explained that the Commission was under an injunction against segregated zoning which they could not violate. Commissioner Robert Lindbergh and Jabo Waggoner promised to "explore all possible routes" to aid the petitioners.
The College Hills Neighborhood Association meets on the 1st Monday of each month at the JCCEO Center on 8th Avenue West.
