The Jefferson County Medical Society building is a 8,840-square-foot 2-story office building located on a 0.46-acre lot at 901 18th Street South. It was constructed in 1961 for the Jefferson County Medical Society and the Alabama Mental Health Association.
The building has also housed offices for the Birmingham District Dental Society.
The property was listed as a target for acquisition by UAB in 2008. The university's capital development plan indicated that it could be used as the site for a new biomedical research facility. UAB closed on the purchase of the building for $1.2 million in April 2020.
