John Hall Buchanan Sr (born April 8, 1887 in Tippah County, Mississippi; died May 17, 1976 in Birmingham) was pastor of Southside Baptist Church from 1937 to 1957 and a trustee of Samford University.
Buchanan was the son of physician James Ellis Buchanan and his wife Cornelia. He married the former Ruby Lowery and had four children.
Late in life, Buchanan was a resident of St Luke's Nursing Home. He died in 1976 and is buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
John H. Buchanan Hall, which houses Samford University's Division of Music, is named in his honor.
