MAX Transit Route 3

MAX Transit Route 3 is a bus route serviced by the Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority from Birmingham Central Station to Wenonah.

Major stops along both the outbound and inbound route include the Central Station, Baptist Medical Center Princeton, Jeffeson Avenue SW and 18th Street SW, Jefferson Avenue SW and 31st Street SW, and Wilson Road SW and Howard Avenue SW.

Weekday service is provided between 5:36 AM and 7:41 PM at at 50 minute intervals throughout the day. Saturday service is provided between 6:36 AM and 8:31 PM at 50 minute intervals throughout the day.

1960

In 1960 Birmingham Transit Company Route 3 followed a similar Jefferson Avenue route, taking 2nd Avenue North/Tuscaloosa Avenue through Elyton as far as 14th Street Southwest where it turned south onto Jefferson Avenue and continued southwest to 24th Street Southwest, bearing left to Brookhaven Avenue, then southwest along 31st Street Southwest to Cedar Avenue. At Cedar, the route turned right and looped around Park Avenue, Birch Avenue and Walnut Avenue before returning to 31st Street Southwest for the trip back into town.
