The Amerex Corporation is located at 7595 Gadsden Highway in Trussville and is the world's largest manufacturer of both fire extinguishers and fire-suppression systems.
History
Amerex was founded in 1971 by Ned Paine and his business partner George Baureis. From its humble beginnings, the enterprise has since grown into a major corporation with revenues topping $80 million by 1999. In November 1999 McWane Inc. of Detroit purchased the company and it now operates as an an affiliate of McWane Inc..
