This is a List of Birmingham homicides in 2013. It includes homicide cases occurring within the city limits during the calendar year. Note that a "homicide" refers to the cause of death as determined by a medical examiner, not to the commission of the crime of murder as charged by police and prosecutors.

A total of 13 homicides have been reported in the city as of March 22, putting the city on pace for 59 for the year. Based on the 2012 census estimate of 206,926 population, that would represent 28.5 homicides per 100,000 population. Birmingham had 75 homicides in 2012, a record low of 63 in both 2010 and 2011, and a record high of 141 in 1992. At this time in 2012, there had been 15 homicides reported.

There have been an average of 4.8 homicides per month, or one every 6.2 days. There were 5 incidents in January, 3 in February, and 5 so far in March. The longest stretch without a homicide was the 19 days between January 20 and February 8. 5 deaths were reported on Sundays, 1 on a Monday, 0 on Tuesdays, 0 on Wednesdays, 3 on Thursdays, 2 on Fridays and 2 on Saturdays.

Of the 13 reported homicides, suspects have been identified in 7 cases, apprehended in 6, and charged in 6. One suspect was found dead on the scene. Not counting 1 homicide which was ruled justifiable by prosecutors, the police department acknowledges 12 murders in its own tabulation for the year. 2 of the chargeable homicides were caused by reckless driving rather than malice aforethought.

At least 10 of the 13 reported homicides were shootings and 2 resulted from auto collisions. Nine incidents took place on the streets, 1 at a public park and 3 at private homes. 2 deaths were the result of reckless driving, 1 originated as a domestic argument, and 2 were the result of robberies. 11 victims were male and 2 were female.
