2006: Emmylou Harris' album All the Roadrunning was released.
1998: Region 2020 hosted a "Vision Fair" at the Birmingham Museum of Art.
1979: The "Big Boy" statue from the Shoney's Big Boy at Hoover Mall was placed on the roof of Berry High School by pranksters.
1973: The downtown section of Morris Avenue between 21st and 24th Streets became the first site in Birmingham added to the National Register of Historic Places.
1969: Jefferson, Blount, St Clair, Walker, and Shelby Counties joined the Regional Planning Commission.
1913: A hatchet was buried at Capitol Park as part of the 1913 Potlatch to heal the city's political turmoil.
1908: The 1908 Albertville tornado killed 15 and injured 150 in Walker, Jefferson, Blount, Marshall and Dekalb Counties.

1802: The state of Georgia ceded its western land claims to the United States in exchange for $1.25 million from future land sales. Alabama and Mississippi were created from those territories.

1943: 1943 Birmingham Barons John Conway & Charles Aleno each had 3 at-bats in the 7th inning in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans, setting a team record.
